PSP 2 with HD 1080p Ortustech display ?

The PSP 2 could have an HD 1080p High Resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels, produced by Japanese Ortustech.  Indeed, the latter has just announced it is ready to launch soon the first 4.8-inch 1080p HD screen, and the second strong rumors Sony would be willing to use just this screen for future handheld PSP 2.

With a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, the new HD screen Ortustech will be able to offer a clarity never before seen on a laptop screen, past the famous quality of Retina Display ‘ 4 Apple iPhone and iPod Touch 4G . The Sony PSP 2 would be the ideal candidate for this HD 1080p screen, and match the size of 4.8 inches with the latest rumors from various sites revealed authoritative in the industry.

  1. It sounds good, but that resolution is just way too high. 720p would not only look just as good at that size, it would still be higher res than the iPhone 4.

By the way, I’m hiring for my site ConsolePress if you’re interested.

The great thing about game “journalism” is that you can make stuff up and say that it’s already a rumor that been spreading.

    I agree with John Draisey.
That resolution at 4.8″ would be overkill. It would force sony to give the psp2 a much higher price than is necessary for a feature that looks good on paper, but is ultimately meaningless.

I also agree with John Draisey and recognize you from psls!
I think 720p would be perfect for a screen that size besides it gives the devs more room to improve textures, framerate, etc without having to worry about it running at 1080p.

Yeah, please stop publishing Rumors as fact, especially on sites like N4G. And 720p is way too much for a handheld. 480p and 1080p on that size screen won’t make a difference.
I know this because I work at BestBuy T.V. section.

No offense, but working at BestBuy doesn’t really make you a credible source, especially on a tech blog.

lol… i also work at best buy and they actually have some extensive courses that you need to take to be certified to be able to do your job… now whether people actually give a shit to retain this is a different story…

btw im not stating this because i learned it at best buy, but because i knew it before and was surpised that they expected their employees to know this.

I think that 720p is the max that the psp2 should be. I know 1080p is great and all but most ps3 games dont even have 1080p… Why the heck would the psp have more 1080p games then the PS3 when the PS3 will definitely be more powerful? If the psp2 does get a 1080p screen then I doubt much games would take advantage of that and so only movies and such would really use it for that. Oh and the battery life was said to be short enough already…

Well, of course one can say its over kill for 1080P on a 4.8 screen. But I say its cool, just because its retina screen technology is uber clear and feels much more natural to look at ( i understand that 720 would still be enough). Think of TV output, now we can have games that will output to an external brilliantly, and who’s to say it will use full power all the time? Take a Macbook 13 Pro / Air both have nice resolution (Air is higher res for some reason) but both graphics/video cards are capable of much more for when it is outputted to an external screen. I’m pretty sure the games will run at 720p anyways just thinking of the development behind it. having all this detail not only do you have to worry about battery power but also how big these games are gonna be. Simple put, by having something that can process much more than its given, what it is given will be not only smoother but may shorten load times. Also a great technological advancement.

    • I hope that nobody else just read what Satish13 write… It makes no sense. And he has obviusly no idea what he is talking about. Well back to topic, there is no way in hell PSP 2 is going to have 1080p 4.8 inch screen, period.

If I need to explain I would just say about the battery life and if I have to say more, there is no need for 1080p screen in this size yet, PSP 2 could maybe have processing power to run some games at 1080p but that would just waste yours and mine batteries.

  2. “$600 U.S dollars”

  3. Радует! А что, тут одни американцы?
Тогда вам: Greetings, dudes! How are you doing? I here with одого a site to you have come, and here I look all in English, nothing монятно! Itself here through the translator I write.

Sure. Better than Apple’s Retina Displays.
Retina works with 326 DPI, IPS-(In-Plane-Switching-) and a contrast of 800:1. So no. I don’t belive Sony will make a beeter display.
    And nothing with 1080p. Fake.

  4. Do you ever heard about Play station phone? where could i find it? anyone please, thanks in advance
